Ankara: Wax Print vs. Fancy Print — What Is the Difference?
You pick up an ankara fabric and the back is noticeably lighter than the front, with no fine irregular lines in the color. Which type is it, and why?
It is fancy print (roller print). Genuine wax-print ankara shows nearly equal color saturation on both sides and has visible crackling — fine irregular lines caused by resin cracking during processing. The absence of both features identifies this as fancy print.
