Alphadi (Niger) co-founded the FIMA festival in 1998, one of the first major international fashion platforms on African soil. Ozwald Boateng became the first Black designer to open a bespoke tailoring house on Savile Row, fusing Ghanaian color sensibility with British tailoring. Deola Sagoe of Nigeria built structured couture from aso-oke and adire textiles and presented in Paris and New York from the 1990s onward.
