Editorial Policy

Readers deserve to know how the content they're reading was made. This page describes the process behind everything published on Afrawear.

How content is created

1. Topic selection

Topics are selected based on real editorial signals in each subject area, combined with reader questions, feedback, and trends in current search interest. The process for identifying these signals is described in more detail on the Technology page. Every topic published fits the site's defined focus.

2. AI-assisted drafting

Initial article drafts are produced with the help of AI writing tools — large language models from established providers including Anthropic and xAI. The AI operates from prompts designed and refined specifically for each site's subject matter and tone.

3. Review and publication

Before publication, drafts are reviewed for:

  • Factual errors or confidently-stated inaccuracies
  • Tone consistent with the site
  • Topics that require more careful handling — or that should be dropped entirely
  • Formatting, readability, and structural clarity

Review is performed by a human editor. No automated review process is a substitute for human judgment, and no review process catches every issue. Reader feedback is one of the mechanisms used to identify errors that slip through.

4. Images

Article images are also generated using AI image tools. They are illustrative and editorial in nature — they are not photographs of real events, people, or places unless explicitly labeled as such.

What this means for readers

  • Articles are general information, not professional advice. For medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical topics, consult a qualified professional before making decisions.
  • Verify time-sensitive facts. Dates, prices, laws, regulations, and product availability can change faster than any article is updated.
  • Errors can and do occur. Readers who identify errors are encouraged to report them using the contact details below.

Editorial independence

  • This site does not accept paid placements, sponsored content, or guest posts.
  • Editorial content is not adjusted to promote specific products or services. Where products are referenced, they are referenced because they fit the article's topic — not the other way around.
  • The site participates in the Amazon Associates program; full details are on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

On the use of AI

AI writing tools have real limitations. They can state incorrect information with confidence. They may rely on outdated sources. They can miss nuance that a subject-matter expert would catch. The review process is designed to catch these issues, but no review process catches everything. Transparency about these limitations is considered more useful to readers than pretending they do not exist.

AI makes it possible to produce and maintain content across a broader range of topics than would otherwise be feasible. That breadth carries an obligation to be clear about how the content is produced, which is the purpose of this page.

Corrections and feedback

Readers who identify errors, wish to suggest topics, or want to provide any other feedback can email [email protected]. Messages are read and, where warranted, investigated and acted upon.
